Celebrating the year-long loan of three Georgia O’Keeffe paintings, this exhibition unites the Mattatuck Museum’s collection with O’Keeffe’s life and work through common themes. The first pairing, Flowers and Landscapes, showcases artists who tackled similar subject matter to O’Keeffe and participated in emerging art movements, yet also occupied marginalized spaces in society. These unique spotlight exhibitions celebrate the year-long loan of three Georgia O’Keeffe paintings and will unite the Mattatuck Museum’s collection with O’Keeffe’s life and work through common themes, creating a unique dialogue between her work and other celebrated artists. Each unique pairing will be curated and narrated by a different member of the Museum’s curatorial department and offer a distinctive perspective on the Mattatuck Collection in relation to the works and story of Georgia O’Keeffe.

Presented by Sr. Jolyn Walker

Join us for a powerful and uplifting Spiritual Juneteenth Program as we honor the legacy of our ancestors, celebrate liberation, and embrace the spirit of resilience and faith. This special gathering will feature inspiring prayers and historical reflections, highlighting the "Grandmother of Juneteenth". This is a message of hope rooted in the journey toward freedom.

Through gentle movement, spoken word, and community fellowship, we will reflect on the enduring strength of the African American spirit and the divine presence that has guided generations toward justice and equality. This event fosters community by creating a community circle inviting participants to engage in a *drum circle and cultural dance.

*Drums will be provided for up to 12 participants. If there are more or others who choose not to drum, they can use other instruments that will be available.

Together, we will rejoice in the triumphs of the past, find encouragement for the present, and seek divine wisdom for the future.

Come prepared to worship, celebrate, and uplift one another in the spirit of unity and liberation. All are welcome to this sacred and joyous occasion!

On Thursday, June 26th, at 6:30, 2nd Home is thrilled to have the Pat Marafiote Trio, featuring Theresa Wright and Steve Clarke, back at 2nd Home. This will be particularly special as Theresa’s new album was released this week. Pat and Steve are both on the album, and it sounds great! Theresa will bring copies to the show which will be available for sale.

Pat's background includes several genres of music as a professional keyboard artist. His musical resume spans decades, including multiple tours with jazz, blues, R&B, and rock acts, including some of the best-known artists of our generation. Bassist Steve Clarke has performed with the two- time Grammy nominated jazz flautist Sherry Winston, Marion Meadows, TomBrown, Victor Fields, and R&B innovators The Coasters, The Drifters, Mary Wells, Sam & Dave, and Ben E. King. Theresa Wright is a wonderful singer with a sweet soulful voice. Look for her CDs, including her new one, and find out for yourself, or be here for their performance.

Bell Ringing Weekend

July 5th 10:00am - 4:00 pm

Join us as we ring in the 4th of July weekend at the Eric Sloane Museum. Learn about an American tradition of bell ringing which is as old as the country itself while visiting our large collection of early American art. Museum hours will be from 10:00-4:00 . The museum grounds also offer a perfect place to enjoy an afternoon picnic in the Housatonic River Valley.

We look forward to ringing in Independence Day weekend with you!
