Belden House & Mews

A Talk with Owner Anthony Champalimaud
Belden House & Mews opened in early 2025 in the historic borough of Litchfield—the town’s first full-service high street hotel in over a century.
It’s set across a three-acre estate just south of the Litchfield Green and combines three historical structures: the 1888 Belden Mansion, a 1959 Modernist addition (the Mews), and the 1891 Firehouse, soon to serve as event space.
The project—led by developers behind Troutbeck in the Hudson Valley, working with Champalimaud Design, PBDW Architects, and Reed+Hilderbrand—is a masterclass in adaptive reuse. Every building was restored with painstaking attention to cultural and architectural detail.
Join us as Anthony Champalimaud, owner of the Belden House and Mews, describes how he and his design team transformed this landmark into a stunning hotel complex.
