Description

KMR Arts is proud to present Convergence, an exhibit of works by Barbara Vaughn and Peter C. Jones at the Judy Black Memorial Park and Gardens. The show will be on exhibit from October 26 – November 11, 2024. There will be a reception with the artist Saturday, November 2, from 3-6 pm.

Barbara Vaughn’s ongoing Waterscapes series depicts images of vibrant abstraction. These unmanipulated photographs engage the viewer’s imagination in unexpected ways. Vaughn photographs in ports and marinas around the world, resulting in dynamic and kinetic compositions that straddle realism and abstraction simultaneously. These compositions are familiar yet unrecognizable and mysterious.

Barbara Vaughn is a fine-art photographer based in New York City. Her work has been published in numerous books and publications such as The New York Times, Time, Vanity Fair, Vogue, and Art in America.  Vaughn graduated from Princeton University and attended the International Center of Photography in NYC. Her artwork is in numerous prestigious private collections. Her signature waterscapes and other photographic series have been the subject of numerous solo and group shows in the U.S. and internationally.

Confluence is a series of photographs created by Peter C. Jones. Water is a source of calm, cleansing energy. This affect is both spiritual and physical as the sounds, the smell and the image of the ocean convey a sense of peace and balance. In Confluence, Jones explores the transcendence of the sea through these photographs. As a counterpart to the constant transformation and movement of water, these photographs were made in the same location, from the same window, of the same ocean. These photographs beautifully illustrate the notion that the only constant is change.

Peter C. Jones graduated from the Rhode Island School of Design, where he spent his final year studying with the legendary Harry Callahan. Jones also served on the Board of Fellows of the Center for Creative Photography in Tucson, Arizona. Since 1984, Jones has served as the President of the Josef and Yaye Breitenbach Foundation, where he has organized 29 Josef Breitenbach one person exhibitions and 11 books.
