Description
Known primarily for his cartoons and his novels, Steiner’s paintings and drawings can be comic, surrealist, romantic, and fantastic—hence the title of the exhibition, “All Over the Place.” The artist recently said that he is “unschooled as an artist. The disadvantage in that is that I was never taught how to paint. I taught myself, and some of what I taught myself was wrong. Happily, that is also the advantage. I am disciplined about how I paint, but not about what or when I paint: I do it how and when I want.”
A reception for the artist will take place at the library on Saturday, November 2, from 4PM to 6 PM. In conjunction with the exhibition, Steiner will give an art talk on Thursday, November 21 from 5:30 to 7PM.
