Fairs, Amusement Parks, and Fun Places
In his latest exhibition, Don Sexton, award-winning Goshen artist, shows places around the world where people – kids and adults - have fun. His paintings include fairs such as the World Famous Goshen Fair, the Big E in West Springfield, and the Taste of Tribeca in New York City, and amusement parks such as Playland in Rye, Luna Park in Sydney, and Disney in Shanghai. Kids will enjoy the fairs and amusement parks but his works also include places where adults have fun such as Torrington’s Warner Theater, the Las Vegas Strip, the Paris Left Bank, and New York’s Time Square.
Don’s images are realistic and he employs color to make them intriguing and memorable. He paints with either of two approaches: oils or mixed media. His oils are traditional. The mixed media technique works are based on a special approach which he developed many years ago and involve both watercolors and oil pastels. The combination of water and oil produce vivid colors. Guests at his shows always enjoy his bright colors. They call him the “color magician.”
