The wonderful works of New Milford native and artist Dennis Stuart will be on display from July 27th - September 21st. An artist reception will be held on Saturday, July 27th, from 12-2 pm.
Dennis Stuart, a graduate of the Paier School of Art in Hamden, also studied at the Ringling School of Art in Sarasota and the School of Visual Arts in Manhattan. He began his career by establishing his studio in 1977, with his early work focusing on illustrating educational film strips, periodicals, and books for the commercial market.
Over the years, he has actively participated in national and regional art competitions, gaining recognition for his versatile use of watercolor, mixed media, acrylic, and oil paint. He explores a variety of themes, often drawing inspiration from nature. When describing his work, Stuart says, “With my paintings, I attempt to capture a moment in time, revealing a contemplative interpretation of nature. Farm, field, forest, and brook are landscape subjects I am drawn toward." His work emphasizes pattern and color harmony, using suggestive texture, color, and shape to translate subjects onto canvas or paper.
Gunn Memorial Library is located at 5 Wykeham Road at the juncture of Route 47 opposite the Green in Washington, CT.
