Holiday Tours at the Hotchkiss-Fyler House Museum, Torrington

TORRINGTON, CONN. --- Don’t miss this opportunity to view one of Connecticut’s notable historic homes and the only Victorian house museum in Litchfield County. In December the Hotchkiss-Fyler House Museum takes on a special ambiance as it is decorated for the Christmas season. Guided tours will be available select days beginning on December 6th and ending on December 30th.

Operated by the Torrington Historical Society, the Hotchkiss-Fyler House Museum, a Queen Anne style built in 1900, features original family furnishings, impressive woodwork, painted and stenciled walls, and collections of fine and decorative arts. During the holiday season the house is decorated with Christmas trees, vintage ornaments, wreaths, greenery, and white lights. Antique toys from the Society’s collection will also be on display and the dining room table will be set for Christmas dinner with linens, fine china, silverware and crystal from the Hotchkiss and Fyler family collections. Evening tours allow visitors the rare opportunity of viewing the house afterhours when the vintage chandeliers, wall sconces, candles and Christmas lights lend a special glow to the evening.

DAYTIME TOURS: Guided tours of the first and second floors will be held on the following dates: December 13, 14, 15, 19, 20, 21, 27, 28 and 29. EVENING TOURS: The glow of Christmas lights and candles provides a special time to view the house museum. Guided evening tours of the first and second floors of the house museum will be held on the following evenings: December 6, 11, and 18.
