Lecture - Gladys Mattson: An Eye for Color

Date: Sunday, April 6
Time: 3:00 p.m.
Location: The Litchfield History Museum

In conjunction with our upcoming exhibit, Litchfield Through a Lens: The Photography of Neal D. Benedict, the Litchfield Historical Society is exploring the life and work of Bantam resident, Gladys Mattson. Between 1890 and 1920, the number of female photographers in the United States exploded. In Litchfield, Mattson entered this burgeoning field for women – forging her own path in artistic expression and community documentation. Join LHS Executive Director, Jessica Jenkins, on April 6 to learn more about Mattson’s unique eye for color and to explore examples of her work from the collection of Litchfield Historical Society.
The lecture will be held at the Litchfield History Museum, 7 South St. Litchfield, CT. Please register in advance, as space is limited. The event is free, and donations are appreciated.
